If you have difficulties installing on a 68040 Machine (Centris, Quadra, etc.) when installing over a network, try turning the System 7.x Cache Switch control panel to "More Compatible" and restarting your machine, then running the Installer again. You can return the Cache Switch to its "Faster" setting after successfully installing the software.
New Entry Default Preferences
----------------------------
Note that there are many data entry options availabe by using Entry Defaults. You may want to visit the New Entry preferences in the File menu. Please refer to pages 28 - 34 of the Reference Manual for more detailed information.
Dialing Preferences
------------------
The preference (page 121 of the Reference Manual):
When see: x
Pause for: 2 seconds
Applies to speaker dailing only. If you would like to add a pause while dialing with your modem, you may add commas in the appropriate locations of your phone number string.
Reference Manual Omission
-------------------------
Page 158 of the Reference Manual describes the elements of the Template Editor, but omits descriptions for the far-right text formatting buttons (see illustration on p. 157). These buttons control the spacing of your document; you can choose from single-space, one-and-a-half space, or double-spacing.
Technical Questions
------------------
Should you have any technical questions about Now Contact, please consult Chapter 10 of the Reference Manual. This chapter contains information on file sizes, where information is stored (what is stored in a Contact File vs. what is stored in the preferences file), usage tips, and troubleshooting questions.
General Notes for Importing from Spreadsheet Files
----------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT: Make sure that each column contains the same type of information.
When preparing to export from Microsoft Excel, be sure to highlight the cells you want to export and use the "Set Database" feature. This ensures that any blank cells will have a TAB placeholder when you save the Excel Worksheet as Text.
Save your file as "Text" and you're ready to import into Now Contact.
General Notes for Importing from Word Processing Files
If you have mail merge lists, or other name/address lists stored in your word processor, you can import these into Now Contact as well.
Separating each field with tabs works best.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that each "column" contains the same type of information. An easy way to insure this is to first import your list into a spreadsheet, like Microsoft Excel, and check to see that all of the columns line up. See "Importing from Spreadsheet Files" above.
Save your file as "Text" and you're ready to import into Now Contact.
General Notes for Importing from Free-Form Address Books
Products like InTouch, SuperQuickDex, FastLabel and others do not store contact information in individual fields the way Now Contact does. In order to import information into Now Contact from these products, you must first export and separate each individual piece of information (First Name, Last Name, Company, Address, etc.) with tabs. A spreadsheet works best for this, though you can also use your word processor. See the notes above for Word Processing and Spreadsheet conversions.
General Notes for TouchBase PRO Conversions

PLEASE NOTE - The default Export order from TouchBase PRO will not be imported into Now Contact properly. Please note the exact export order below for TouchBase.
The default Text format for TouchBase PRO is Tab-Delimited. This is the best choice for your conversion to Now Contact.
In TouchBase Pro's "Export Data..." dialog box, it is very helpful to select "Include Merge Header." This will make it easy to match field names when importing the data into Now Contact.
When you go to Now Contact to import the data, choose the predefined "TouchBase PRO" format from the "Import Format" pop-up menu in the Import dialog box.

General Notes for Dynodex 3.0 Conversions

The default Text format for Dynodex 3.0 is Tab-Delimited. This is the best choice for your conversion to Now Contact.
All of the default settings in the Dynodex Export dialog box work best. Choosing "Select All" from the left-hand side of the dialog box and then clicking the "Add >>" button is the easiest way to get information exported from DynoDex 3.0. Additionally, it is very helpful to select "Include Field Names". This will make it easy to match field names when importing the data into Now Contact.
When you go to Now Contact to import the data, choose the predefined "Dynodex 3.0" format from the "Import Format" pop-up menu in the Import dialog box.
